There has been a 36% surge in HIV infections through sexual transmissions in the first 8 months of the current year,(started March 21), deputy head of the Drug Control Headquarters said. Alireza Jazini said the increase in HIV through sexual transmissions is worrying given that the number of transmissions through shared needle by addicts has seen a 22% drop, ISNA reported.
