In a meeting of the High Council of Cultural Revolution’s committee in charge of appointing university deans, Farhad Rahbar, former chancellor of Tehran University, was officially appointed the new president of Islamic Azad University.
The meeting was held Sunday, though news of Rahbar’s selection had been circulating since last week.
It was attended by President Hassan Rouhani, who doubles as head of the high council. The Minister of Science Mohammad Farhad and Health Minister Seyyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi were also present, Mehr News Agency reported.
Rahbar was chancellor of Tehran University from 2008 to 2014.
