Isfahan will have tourist cabs in the near future thanks to a trilateral agreement between the relevant bodies.
According to a report on the website of Isfahan Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, the chamber has signed a memorandum of understanding with the provincial office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization as well as the local Taxi Management and Supervision Organization to ensure the city’s taxi service meets acceptable tourism standards.
As per the agreement, the taxi organization is screening the volunteer cabbies and introduces them to the tourism organization, which also tests them and provides those selected with basic training, such as how to present a tourist attraction to foreign and domestic visitors.
The chamber of commerce has said it is committed to providing English language courses to the cab drivers.
Isfahan Province, a major tourist attraction in Iran and the region, broke a 40-year record earlier this year by hosting more than 85,000 foreign tourists during the first month of the present calendar year (March 21–April 20).
