Residents of District 12 in central Tehran, which is at the heart of a restricted traffic zone, are now allowed to exit the area with their cars in the morning without incurring fines
The polluted District 12, is located in the ‘odd-even’ traffic zone, where private vehicles are allowed based on the odd/even last digit of their license plates. Saturday is earmarked for cars with the last even digit. Friday, being the weekend, is not included in the even-odd scheme.
“Those who live in the area can exit the zone only once per day between 6.30 and 8.00 in the morning without paying a fine,” Maziar Hosseini, deputy for transportation at Tehran Municipality, was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying.
