A 4.4-magnitude earthquake jolted the cities of Jiroft and Bam in Kerman Province on Saturday.
According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred 32 km from Jiroft and 50 km from Bam at 10:48 pm local time and was registered at a depth of 8 kilometers, Jamejamonline.ir reported.
The region was also hit by four minor aftershocks Saturday and Sunday. The aftershocks had magnitudes in the 2.0-3.2 range.
“There were no immediate reports of possible damages or casualties,” Ali Hosseinzadeh Mehrabi, the head of the provincial Crisis Management Office, said. “Teams from the Iranian Red Crescent Society have been deployed to affected areas.”
