Iran’s team of high-school students came in third in the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad with three gold and one silver medals.
The contest was held on July 6-15 in Nakhon Pathom, Thialand with 297 students from 76 countries competing in theoretical and practical tests, ISNA reported.
Amir Hossein Behnoush, Parsa Pirouz and Amir Abbas Kazeminia won gold medals and Soroush Baniani took a silver.
Taiwan and the USA came first and second.
Iran finished sixth last year, when the Olympiad took place in Georgia, wining two gold and two silver medals.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is an annual academic competition for high school students.
