A 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted Andimeshk in Khuzestan Province in the early hours of Tuesday. According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred 28 kilometers from Andimeshk at 1:34 a.m. local time and was registered at a depth of 11 kilometers, IRNA reported. There were no immediate reports on possible damages and casualties. Iran sits astride several major seismic faults, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
