The Health Ministry has pledged to build 3,000 health centers within the first 100 days of the President Hassan Rouhani’s second term in office, according to a top official.
Rouhani’s new term will begin in August.
Deputy Health Minister Ali Akbar Sayyari said on Saturday that the centers will be built once funding is made available by the government.
“A 20-trillion-rial ($527 million) budget has been envisioned for the scheme,” he said during a meeting with provincial health officials in Zanjan, IRNA reported.
He added that rural regions and towns on the fringes of big cities are a priority in the Health Reform Plan. Since the beginning of the plan in 2013, around 2,800 rural health centers have been built and over 6,600 more are under construction.
