Literacy Classes for 1,200 Immigrants

 scheme to teach reading and writing to immigrants in the 10-49 age group in Alborz Province has helped educate 1,200 people, according to a provincial education official. Moharram Ali Alhouei, deputy for literacy at the provincial organization of the Education Ministry, told IRNA that the scheme started in the last academic year (started Sept. 2016). “Immigrants who have obtained Iranian citizenship or hold a residence permit can take literacy classes at school or offices affiliated to the Education Ministry or the Literacy Movement Organization,” he said.

Alborz is among the provinces with the highest number of immigrants in the country, followed by Tehran, Khorasan Razavi, Isfahan, Qom, Fars, and Kerman.
