Thirty-one hospitals opened in Iran during the last fiscal year that ended in March, according to a deputy at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
“The total hospital capacity has increased by 3,000 beds as a result,” Mohammad Jafar Alizadeh was quoted by IRNA as saying that
During his visit Sunday to a hospital construction site in Talesh, Gilan Province, he announced that the new hospital will be ready by the end of the current fiscal year (March 2018).
The 230-bed hospital in Talesh is being built on a land area of 34,970 sq meters.
The old hospital had 130 beds.
According to the latest figures released by the Health Ministry, there are 135,000 hospital beds in the country and there is need for 105,000 new ones to meet international standards (three hospital beds per 1,000 people).
