The touristic snow tunnel in Azna County of Lorestan Province collapsed on Friday at 4.30 pm, leaving one visitor dead and one hurt, and trapping a few others inside the tunnel.The incident happened as a result of the weather turning warm, IRNA reported. Ambulances and emergency choppers were immediately sent to the location for rescue operations, according to Pir-Hussein Kolivand, head of Iran’s Emergency Medical Services. “Rescue teams are still searching the site for more possible victims. There might be more casualties,” he said. Azna’s snow tunnel is formed when the mass of snow and ice inside a valley next to Oshtorankuh Mountain slowly starts to melt, creating a spectacular sight.
