The governor general of Khuzestan denied reports about potable water rationing in the southwestern province. “Except for a few villages, there are no problems in drinking water supply in any part of the province, and we have no plans to ration potable water,” said Gholamreza Shariati, ISNA reported. He clarified that Khuzestan authorities had held discussions a few days ago on agricultural water rationing to ensure fair distribution of farm water between upstream and downstream farmers. Farms in the upstream areas of Shavour River and Lashkarabad stream enjoyed abundant sources of water while downstream farms were facing severe shortage.
