Metro Line 7 Safety Under Review

At Tuesday’s open meeting of Tehran City Council, Rahmatollah Hafezi, who chairs the TCC Environment and Health Commission, called for forming a committee to assess the safety of the newly-opened Tehran Metro Line 7.

It runs at less than capacity, he said, also noting that “there is no proper ventilation system along the 22-km line,” ISNA reported.

He pointed out that the distance between two stations (seven stations on Line 7 were opened last week) is six km, and in the event of a mishap there is no escape route and commuters will have to walk along the unventilated tunnel to reach the nearest exit.
