Five Iranian universities are listed in the QS World University Rankings 2017-2018 by Quacquarelli Symonds. Sharif University of Technology, Tehran University, Iran University of Science and Technology, Amirkabir University of technology, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences were ranked in the 470-480, 501-550, 550-600, 601-650, and 700-750 categories respectively from among 1,000 universities ranked, according to topuniversities.com. While TU and Sharif University have been usual contenders, it is the second time the three other centers of higher learning are in the 2017-2018 list. QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings based in the UK, and viewed as one of the most credible and widely read university rankings.
