Iranian nephrologist and a board member of Iran University of Medical Sciences Dr. Shahrzad Osareh, was selected as the only representative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) from the Middle East.
According to Iranian Consortium of Dialysis, each of the 32 members of ISN has been selected from a different global region, ISNA reported.
Members should conduct research in nephrology in the region they represent, for a period of two years.
A total of 42 articles written by Osareh have been published in scientific journals and she has delivered speeches in 75 scientific national and international conferences so far. Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that deals with the kidneys. Currently there are 28,000 dialysis patients in Iran.
Urinary tract infections are the main cause of kidney failure in Iran and therefore early diagnosis of the disease can help prevent kidney damage.
