The Majlis Health Commission held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the outbreak of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the country, said Mohammad Naeem Aminfar, its spokesperson.

Ahmad Hamzeh, a member of the commission said the provinces with common border with Pakistan are at higher risk for the disease outbreak. “In Kahnouj, Kerman Province, which is a land route for importing livestock from Pakistan, there are no facilities to monitor health of livestock and to quarantine suspected cases,” he said Mehr News Agency reported. On Monday, Mohammad Mahdi Gouya, head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the Health Ministry said the virus so far had infected 31 people in the country and three people had lost their lives to the disease.
