More than 15,000 complaints were filed by patients against the medical fraternity for negligence last year (ended March 20). “During the period, 910 million medical services were provided across the country,” said Ali Fattahi, a senior official at Iran Medical Council on Monday. From among the complaints, 7,214 (48%) were registered for investigation. After a probe by courts, it was found that in 3,126 cases, medical staff including physicians and nurses, were culpable, said a recent report released by Iran’s Legal Medicine Organization. As per the figures, the rate of medical errors in the country is far less than the global average rate which is 3%, IRNA reported.
