85% of Hospitals Accredited

Almost all hospitals have been ranked as per a new set of hospital accreditation protocols devised by the Health Ministry last June, said Deputy Health Minister Mohammad Aqajani. “More than 85% of the hospitals have been covered under the ranking system,” he was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying. The new protocols lay emphasis on promoting patient safety. The accreditation process includes 248 standards and 900 criteria, based on which hospitals are ranked and categorized in four categories. The medical tariffs at each hospital are fixed in accordance with its ranking, Aqajani said.
