The average noise pollution in the capital Tehran is 5 dB above the standard level, according to Mohammad Hossein Bazgir, head of the Tehran Department of Environment (DoE) on Tuesday. “Districts 6 (central), 12 (south), and 21 (west) are the three most noise polluted areas in the city,” ILNA quoted him as saying.  Loud sounds can exacerbate psychological health and cause hypertension, high stress levels, tinnitus, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and other harmful effects. Noise pollution affects both health and behavior.
