On the sidelines of the 70th World Health Assembly (WHA) which opened on May 22 in Geneva, Switzerland, Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi told his counterparts in separate meetings that Iran is ready to promote bilateral cooperation and share experience in the field of healthcare. He met with health ministers from Italy and the UK among others, IRNA reported. In his meeting with Rory Stewart, Britain’s minister of state at the Department for International Development, Hashemi said he will seek to explore ways of promoting healthcare ties between Iran and Britain. “We have a plan to fight non-contagious diseases and can share our experiences with Italian experts,” he told his Italian counterpart. The meetings with health ministers of Pakistan and Kazakhstan emphasized the need for promoting cooperation in the area of preventing and fighting against both contagious and non-contagious diseases. The WHA, the world’s highest health policy setting body, concludes on May 31.
