More than half of traffic accidents outside of cities involve light vehicles, said Traffic Control Police chief Nader Rahmani. “Sedans and other light vehicles are involved in 60% of inter-city road accidents,” he was quoted by ILNA as saying. These vehicles were involved in a total of 45,735 accidents in the past Iranian year (ended March), while motorcycles were part of 19% of road crashes, and pickup trucks, large trucks and trailers, 10%. Buses and minibuses comprised the remaining, Rahmani noted.
