An earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on the Richter scale jolted the outskirts of Bojnord, North Khorasan Province, on Friday. There were no reports of possible damages or casualties. According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 3:57 pm local time and was registered at a depth of 8 kilometers, Iranian Seismological Center’s Website reported. The province was also jolted by two 3.3 and 3.1 degrees aftershocks on Saturday. Iran sits astride several major seismic faults, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating.
