Health screening of first grade students will begin from May 22 across the country and the information will be registered digitally. “Children will be screened for different health problems including learning disorders, visual and hearing impairments as well as metal problems,” said Majid Ghadami, head of Exceptional Needs Education Organization at the Education Ministry. Mildly retarded children (with IQ between 50 and 69) will be sent to special schools while students (with IQ of below average (70-89) will be sent to regular schools, he said, ISNA reported. The average IQ is between 90 and 109. “This year, 1,000 health centers provide services to students across the country. The health check costs only $5 per student,” he added.
