76 Infertility Treatment Centers

There are 76 private and state-run infertility treatment centers across the country of which only 10 offer embryos and egg donation to infertile couples, said Dr Mohammad Mahdi Akhundi, head of the Iranian Society of Embryology and Reproductive Biology (ISERB) on Tuesday. “At present there are more than three million infertile couples in the country. On average, in 15% of all marriages couples face some kind of infertility problem within the first few years of their marital life,” IRNA quoted him as saying. Women older than 40 years or unable to become pregnant with their own eggs can use donor eggs to conceive and deliver a baby.
