A young man trying to snap a selfie with a moving train was killed after he miscalculated the distance and was hit by the train. The 26-year-old and his friends had gathered around the rail tracks past midnight to take a selfie. The accident happened at Zarrin Stop in Damghan County, Semnan Province around 1 am on Saturday. “He was taken to the nearest hospital immediately, but lost his life due to the severe injuries sustained,” county police chief Seyyed Ali Akbar Miri told reporters. Over the past two years, the selfie has been at the center of an increasing number of fatal mishaps across the world as it goes to extreme lengths. In the past Iranian year (ended in March), nearly 10 young people lost their lives trying to pose for their friends and followers on social media who would have certainly rewarded them with more likes and shares.
