Flash Floods

The body of the last person missing in the flash floods and torrential rains (in mid-April) in the western parts of the country was found in Azarshahr, East Azarbaijan Province on Wednesday. With this, the final death toll was 43, said Esmail Najjar, head of the National Disaster Management Organization of Iran (NDMOI). Some 32 towns and villages in provinces of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Kordestan, Mazandaran, and Zanjan were severely affected by the floods. East Azarbaijan and West Azarbaijan had the highest casualties while the cities of Ajabshir and Azarshahr were the worst hit, IRNA reported.
