Researchers at Tehran’s Tarbiat Modares University have developed laboratory scaffolds primarily used in long-term stem cell cultivation. The scaffolds play a vital role in tissue engineering and repairing damaged tissue.

“Long-term stem cells laboratory cultivation has its own problems including losing the unique and primary features of cells throughout the lengthy process,” said Rezvan Mobbaseri, one of the researchers, IRNA reported.

“That is why developing a cultivation system suitable for long-term needs while conserving the primary characteristics will be highly important in the realm of cell therapy and tissue engineering.”

The results of the study were published in the American Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications Journal.
