The chairman of the Majlis Higher Education Committee criticized the growing “academic pedantry” and called for serious efforts to promote authentic research. Javad Heravi quoted by ICANA said ‘’theoretical subjects taking precedence over practical issues in academia is another problem facing academic institutions.’’ He said the mushroom growth of higher education institutions only exacerbates the problem. He urged universities to foster “a generation of research-minded students.”
