The 8th Asian Safe Community Conference commenced in Mashhad, capital of Khorasan Razavi Province on Monday, attended by 400 domestic and foreign experts.

“The secretariat of the three-day event received 300 articles in all, and 15 specialist workshops are scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the conference,” that ends Wednesday, said Amir Azizi, head of the Asian Network for Safe Communities, addressing the opening ceremony. The International Safe Community is the subset of World Health Organization (WHO) and aims to create a safe urban environment such as reducing the number of road accidents, tackling air pollution, etc.

Since 2016, Mashhad Municipality is in charge of the secretariat for the Asian Network for Safe Communities, Mehr News Agency reported.
