Beggars Rounded Up

During the first ten months of the current year (ends March 20), more than 1,600 beggars were rounded up from Bandar-e Abbas city of whom, nearly 600 were illegal Pakistani migrants suffering from different diseases, said Reza Safari, head of Contagious Diseases Office at Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. “Various infectious diseases including malaria, cholera, measles and tuberculosis were identified among the migrants who were confined and given necessary treatment before they were sent back to their country,” IRNA quoted him as saying. The remaining were locals who were released after a warning.  Bandar-e Abbas is a port city and capital of Hormozgan Province on the southern coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf.
