Kordestan Freezes

Saqqez and Hezar Kanian cities in Kordestan Province experienced temperatures of -30 centigrade degree during the last three days. “The temperature was -7 centigrade in the warmest parts of the province,” said Bahram Charehkhah, head of Kordestan’s Meteorological Center on Tuesday. Nearly 70 cm of snow has piled up in Hezar Kanian, and 50 to 65 cm snowfall has been recorded in Saqqez, Baneh, Qorveh and Zarrineh cities, IRNA reported. The western Kordestan Province is a mountainous region with average precipitations twice the national average.
