A mountaineer from the Czech Republic who was injured while climbing Mount Damavand in Northern Tehran was rescued by emergency teams. “He was one of a three-member group which had decided to continue climbing despite a fierce blizzard,” said Majid Akbari, head of the Red Crescent Society of Mazandaran Province. The mountaineer had lost stamina and was unable to navigate his path, and was blanketed with a layer of snow. He was carried down the mountain by the rescue team, IRNA reported. Most provinces of the country have been experiencing heavy snow and rainfall over the past two weeks.
