Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi is scheduled to sign a number of deals in medicine and pharmaceuticals on the sidelines of the 16th Iran-Cuba Joint Commission session slated this week in Havana. “A total of 15 memoranda of understanding are to be signed by the two sides,” said Mohsen Asadi Lari, advisor to the minister in international affairs, the ministry’s news agency ‘Webda’ reported. The MoUs are in areas of food products, collaboration between Red Cross and Red Crescent, nutrition and diet, nanotechnology, drug protocols and medical devices, as well as in academic cooperation. Hashemi will later leave for Mexico City on Wednesday (Feb. 15) where he will meet Mexican government officials and discuss cooperation in vaccine production. The Iran-Cuba Joint Commission resumes after five years since its last session held in 2011.
