During the first 10 months of the current year that ends in March, the theft rate fell by 13% compared to the same period last year, said Colonel Abbasali Mohammadian, Tehran Province Police Chief on Saturday. “Most of those arrested for committing thefts during the period were in the age groups 17 to 38. Around 53% of those detained had previous criminal records,” IRNA quoted him as saying. About half of those who were involved in criminal activities like pick-pocketing and petty thefts, were drug addicts, he added.
