Icy Road Conditions

As the weather forecast predicts snowfall and icy conditions on Thursday and Friday (Feb 9-10) on the mountainous roads leading to the northern parts of the country, therefore people should avoid unnecessary trips on Haraz, Chalus, Firouzkouh and Qazvin-Rasht roads, said Colonel Nader Rahmani, head of Iran’s Traffic Control Information Center. During the last month, snowfall trapped a large number of cars on the routes to the northern provinces and “cleanup efforts” were made several times to reopen the routes for the stranded passengers, he said, IRNA reported. He also cautioned that in rain and snow, the space between two vehicles should be increased to twice the normal.
