During the past four days (February 1-4), Iranian Red Crescent Society’s relief teams provided contingency aid to people living in 217 snow and blizzard-affected cities and villages in 29 of the 31 provinces, with the exception of Sistan-Baluchestan and Hamedan. “Shelters were set up for 10,300 people and emergency medical services provided to eight pregnant women in labor stranded on the roads,” said Morteza Salimi, head of the IRCS Relief Aid and Rescue Organization on Saturday, IRNA reported. Also, 41 injured people were transferred to hospitals and 38 people received out-patient treatment. The relief teams are still providing contingency services to people in 13 provinces of East Azarbaijan, Isfahan, Khuzestan, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Kerman, Kermanshah, Golestan, Gilan, Fars, Mazandaran, and Hormozgan, where gas and water supplies have been disrupted.
