Nearly 11,600 electronic voting machines are ready for the fifth city council elections slated for May, said Qassem Mirzaee Nekou, a member of a monitoring team overseeing the polls. "Around 11,000 electronic ballot boxes will be used for the elections across the country on May 19, and the remaining 600 will be kept in reserve," Jamejamonline news website quoted him as saying. The Interior Ministry unveiled the first electronic voting machine in November 2015. E-polling facilitates election supervision as well as transparency, besides accelerating the election procedures.
