The last three decades has seen a five-fold increase in the number of students in universities in the country, while the number of higher education institutions has grown 4-fold during the same period, said Mohammad-Baqer Larijani, deputy health minister for education, on Monday.
Stating that currently there are 56 state-run and 90 private universities of medical sciences, he said, “There are 18,000 university professors, which means there is one professor for every 18 students.” He added that 2,000 more would be appointed by the end of the current year in March, Alef News Agency reported.
