Half of Iranians have high blood pressure by the time they are 55 years old, said Deputy Health Minister Dr Reza Malekzadeh. “Salt consumption in Iran is 2.5-3 times higher than the safe amount,” he said on the sidelines of the First Congress on Prevention and Early Diagnosis of Cancer, held January 28-30 in Tehran. The Health Ministry has implemented guidelines and measures to check the increasing rate of cancer as well as other non-communicable diseases in the country, IRNA reported. With the message ‘Integration and Convergence of Research and Action,’ the congress aims to critically review national policies and actions in prevention and early detection of cancer and preventive measures.
