The national food safety system will be officially launched on January 29, said director general of Food and Drug Administration’s Reference Laboratories. “People can determine the authenticity of all food products, as well as any other information regarding a product, by text messaging the brand and production company,” said Bahram Darayi, IRNA reported. The system has been in the making for years and has undergone several tests to ensure optimum performance. The initiative is to crack down on smuggled food products, and guarantee that all foodstuffs in the market are safe for people to consume.
