The State Welfare Organization said it plans to install CCTV cameras at all kindergartens in urban areas of the country to provide for better surveillance and monitoring of their performance, as part of its directive to all pre-schools to improve their services. “A number of kindergartens have installed surveillance cameras, and the remaining will be covered,” Habibollah Masoudi Farid, deputy head of the SWO, told IRNA on Wednesday. Although the number of reported breaches is not high, the move aims to screen care providers inside kindergartens and reduce violations. There are nearly 17,000 kindergartens in the country and only 10% of Iranian children attend pre-schools.
