Rescuers discovered the bodies of four civilians Sunday night at the Plasco building site, where the search operation and debris removal entered its fifth day.

That is in addition to the bodies of two firefighters Iranian emergency workers have so far found, while a number of bodies still remain under the huge pile of concrete and iron, Mehr News Agency reported.

Saeed Sharifzadeh, director of Tehran’s Fire Stations and Safety Services Organization, said the six bodies were discovered by rescue workers who dug tunnels to reach the underground floors of the collapsed high-rise.

Search teams are trying to reach the trapped victims by taking all precautionary measures, he said.

“We still hope that those trapped will survive and come out alive.”

The number of people, mostly firefighters, injured during the incident and the relief and rescue operations that followed has exceeded 190, most of whom have been treated on the spot, while 4 remain hospitalized.
