Deans of 82 universities from 42 countries across the world have gathered for a conference on the Persian language (January 18-19) at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University. Heads of various departments including departments of Iranology and Farsi literature will discuss the status of Farsi language courses while exploring avenues of cooperation and reviewing and revising curriculums, IRNA reported. Since 1984, Iran has initiated 51 Farsi language courses overseas, sending some 222 lecturers to foreign universities to teach. There are 3,636 students studying in fields related to Iran and the Persian language worldwide, of which 620 are at the PhD level.
