The Food and Drug Administration has imported new equipment that can detect 426 different types of pesticide residue in agricultural products, said Hossein Rastegar, head of the FDA’s research center on Friday. The FDA laboratories were able to detect only 100 types of the pesticides in food products earlier, he said. Pointing to a plan to control pesticide residue in widely-consumed agricultural products, he said, “Pesticide residue levels in seven farm products including potatoes, onions, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, apple and rice are monitored regularly,” IRNA reported.
