The State Welfare Organization has devised a door-to-door program to identify and create an accurate database on addicts in the country, which will be implemented from the next Iranian year beginning March. “The project is part of the preventive schemes in the SWO’s three-pronged strategy of prevention-treatment-support, and the details will be given out soon,” said Majid Rezazadeh, head of SWO’s Center for Promoting Drug Prevention and Treatment, ISNA reported. A total of 5,000 teams of social workers, 1,150 medium-term residential facilities, 140 harm reduction centers, 45 night shelters, and 250 mobile teams operating under the SWO in addiction prevention and treatment, he added.
