Role of Women in Social Development

The First National Congress of Successful Iranian Women next month will discuss the role of women “as half of the population in social and economic development,” said Fatemeh Daneshvar, head of the social committee at Tehran City Council. “Women must be made aware of their social rights and potential so that they can be empowered and play their part in the economy,” she said, IANA reported. In line with article 31 of the next five-year economic and social development plan (2016-2021) which calls for harnessing women’s potential, the congress aims “to explore the obstacles and solutions to female management and leadership.” It will be held in cooperation with the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs, universities, and ministries on January 25 at Tehran’s Olympics Hotel. International cooperation with successful female personalities and offering management and leadership courses will also be discussed at the event.
