The Health Ministry is holding a campaign to promote healthy diets for healthy lifestyles among Iranians who are at high risk of developing non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The campaign started on December 19 and will raise awareness on ways to adopt healthy regimens that contain low sugar, salt, and fat, until January 4.

“A healthy regimen throughout life could reduce the rate of cardiovascular diseases by 50%, cancers by 30-40%, and diabetes by 80%,” said Zahra Abdollahi, director of Nutrition Improvement Department at the Health Ministry, IRNA reported.

Under the program, over 800 nutritionists at health centers across the country will offer free counseling services to people. They will also hold educational sessions for parents at schools and other educational facilities.
