Public Sector Oral Care to Increase

The private sector offers about 93% of all dentistry services, and only 7% of dental care in the country is provided by the public sector, said Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi.

“The government is trying to increase the share of public sector in oral healthcare to 25% by the end of the current administration’s term in mid 2017,” he said on Tuesday, ISNA reported. The Health Ministry has plans to step up provision of dental services, particularly in remote and underprivileged areas since roughly 40% of the Iranian population does not have proper or easy access to dental care centers. The ministry also plans to set up 254 “specialized dental clinics” in various cities which would provide complete dental care.
