The Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) Forum opened on Monday in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, in the presence of prominent Muslim scientists from around the world.

A joint effort by the Mustafa Science and Technology Foundation (MSTF) and the University of Putra Malaysia (UPM), the forum focuses on development of science and nanoscience.

The opening ceremony was attended by 150 delegates from Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim countries, Mehr News Agency reported.

Instituted by Iran, the MSTF aims to improve scientific relations between academics and researchers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.

The forum aims to highlight the latest achievements made by Muslims in the realm of science, and foster closer collaboration among them to achieve better goals. It will run for five days until December 23.
