Increase in Women and Family Affairs Budget

The Office of the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs has seen a 19% increase in the budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year (starts March 2017), submitted to parliament on December 4. “The bill projects a budget of about $4 million (152 billion rials) for the vice presidency,” said deputy for planning and coordination, Athareh Nejadi, IRNA reported. The amount will go towards national plans for empowering women, consolidating family structures, supporting community-based activities and social participation of women, as well as research projects on pertinent issues. The vice presidency’s budget for the outgoing year was $3.2 million (128 billion rials).
